Going good! Editing and shooting. Should be wrapped in late Jan/early Feb.
Week 35-38 - 2015
It's go time (finally)!
I'll just be uploading pics from now on till post-production.
Week 29 - 34 - 2015
I'm so close to shooting! Just looking for a classic car to buy (loan from my parents - woohoo!)
I have no idea how many hours I've invested into editing the script. It seems like an eternity.
When I'm not doing that I'm working on props & costume (prototype sneak pics below).
And other than that watching 1-2 films a day and that's my life for the past two months (Jesus).
Week 25, 26, 27 & 28 - 2015
28 weeks and I feel like I've come a long way and at the same time not far enough. That's crazy.
Bad news! Due to budget constraints and actor/actress unavailability I've decided to scrap the original script.
Really good news! Like everything in life, the more time you invest into a skill the better you become. The new script that I'm currently working on feels more powerful overall. It's also hella-unique (yeah I said hella so what, wanna fight about it?).
I've also taken into consideration to avoid the same mistakes from the original project. There's no obstacles to stop me this time.
I'm still so grateful to the few people who have donated already. You guys light the fire up under my ass. I wont let you down!
Shooting should begin in about a month's time. I'm excited!
Week 21, 22, 23 & 24 - 2015
Currently WIthdraw's production is at turtle pace! :-(
We've completed a reel and are close to shooting and uploading a Kickstarter video (Should be uploaded 6th-7th June).
If everything goes well and we raise enough funds we'll get back to shooting! Woohoo!
If we don't raise enough money there is a possibility of a script change which will lend itself to a cheaper option.
Whatever the outcome, I'll be working on a film and getting it out there ASAP!
Thanks to everyone who's helped out so far, I'll never forget youuuu :-)
In the meantime here's some screenshots! (not colour corrected).
Week 17, 18, 19 & 20 - 2015
We're in production! (well, sort of).
The two main leads have been cast, but we've encountered a problem with funding.
Our actors need some sort of living wage to film non-stop.
So we're currently shooting a reel in everyone's spare time which will be used for a kick starter campaign as well as a NZ Film Commission funding attempt. While the latter is unlikely, we're hoping to raise enough money from kick starter to start filming 24/7.
The reel is currently being edited, as well as filmed, and should be completed by late next week.
In the meantime - here's a sneak peek!
WEEK 15 & 16 - 2015
Auditions and meetings all week!
The script is being polished - Draft 4 shall be completed this week. Final Draft completed by next week.
Props, lights etc. are being purchased - dollah billz are flying out the window.
I haven't got time to calculate the budget at this point (or upload a photo!).
Thanks for everyone's help so far!
WEEK 13 & 14 - 2015
Fundraising (begging) has officially begun!
The draft script has been selected - needs further refinement.
90% of the equipment has been purchased. 4K Video + Anamorphic image + Industry standard sound.
Casting calls will begin on Monday the 6th of April.
Budget spent on equipment: $8568
Budget remaining: $5310
Total budget: $13,878
Below is a hint of the script selected ;)
Week 10, 11 & 12 - 2015
Alright! An avalanche of news!
All the scripts have been finished :D The last script just needs a little cleanup (will be finished by tomorrow night). Please let me know if you want to read them and choose your favourite :) I'd LOVE your help!
I've also decided to shoot the film earlier than intended since my patience is running out. I'll maybe start the main filming process around May - which means my equipment dreams are going down the drain. But that's okay because I'd rather use the money on more important things (costumes, props, actors etc.).
Fundraising will begin after the script is chosen.
Current budget: $2288
Equipment budget: $10,000
On a side note for cinematography enthusiasts - Anamorphic lenses make that beautiful classic film aesthetic that many people love (including myself). It's why so many films are cropped. Unfortunately the lenses are in the 10K+ range - but a rare adapter is available that works with most DSLR lenses. I intend to find one ;)
Meanwhile here's some anamorphic shots of some of my favourite films. Peace and love!
WEEK 7, 8 & 9 - 2015
Sorry for delayed updates - I'd thought I'd finish the final script sooner but I've just been binge watching movies.
The last script should be done this week - then I've got to sort through all my notes and quickly edit all three.
Going to be getting two jobs to help fund this faster - hooray!
Current budget: $75
Equipment budget: $11,320
Week 5 & 6 - 2015
The second horse has completed the race - hooray! :D
Already made notes on the third - will begin ASAP.
Once all 3 are complete I'll be getting feedback from a variety of people (please let me know if you're interested in reading them! Just mention the code phrase 'Banana Swordfish') - then along with Mr. Producer we'll be choosing the script that we're going to shoot - then begins the money, audition and equipment race.
Current budget: $75
Equipment budget: $10,642
Week 3 & 4 - 2015
Not much to report. Second script is coming along - 70% finished.
Can't decide between two ideas for the last script.
Choosing a crime story (further saturating the market) or a new concept road movie.
I'll be dividing the budget into two categories - equipment and budget - since I'll be keeping the equipment (for future films) I'll work my ass off for it myself.
Current budget: $75
Equipment budget: $10,275
Week 2 - 2015
We got our first donation! Woohoo!
Draft 2 has been completed for Charmander. Draft 1 being worked on for Squirtle.
Shout-out to Jalal Asgher who got me into fountain pens. Also the picture below contains 2014's best screenplay - oh man it's good!
Current budget: $10,325
Week 1 - 2015
The website is live! Pre-production has officially begun!
The producer will be choosing from 3 starter scripts code named Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle.
Principle photography should occur late 2015, early 2016.
Current budget: $10,200
